Alpine Ibex
The Alpine Ibex is a wild goat that lives in the European Alps, thriving in rocky regions and rough terrain. Males and females typically live apart for most of the year, males around the cliffs and females below, in the brushier areas. Mating occurs in the late fall, with gestation periods lasting between five to six months, and it is uncommon for this species to have more than one young per year. The Alpine Ibex has an average lifespan in captivity of 22 years. The females typically live in herds of 10-20, while males are typically more solitary, sometimes existing in smaller groups of 6-8.
